Solid Minerals Sector in Kebbi Gets New Commissioner, Head of Mining Agency

A new Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development in Kebbi State has been appointed by the state governor Dr. Nasir Idris, while a rejuvenated Mining Development Agency has new executive to run its affairs.

The ministry of Solid Minerals Development has Garba Hassan Warrah while Abdullahi Buhari Warrah is the Managing Director of the solid minerals agency.

Garba Hassan Warrah replaced Alhaji Haliru Aliyu Muhammad Wasagu, who was suspended weeks ago for what the governor alleged was the former commissioner’s dereliction of duty.

Administering the oath of office on the newly appointed commissioner, Governor Nasir Idris described the occasion as “historic occasion, […] their appointments were based on merit and track record”, he said.

According to Yahaya Sarki, special adviser, Media the governor stressed that his administration would not condone non-performance or laxity from any government official.

He emphasized that the priority of the new commissioner and the agency is to boost revenue generation for the state.

He charged the appointees to deliver tangible results within six months, assuring them of government’s full support and enabling environment to succeed.

“We are going to give you every support, all we want from you is performance and results. Congratulations once again,” the Governor stated.

Checks by environmentswatch.ng reveal Ngaski Local Government with headquarters in Warrah is, besides being home to the two appointees, is reputed to have under its soil over 80 percent of the solid mineral deposits in the state.
