Kebbi, Brazil Sign Pact To Boost Agric, Livestock Sector

The agreement was signed yesterday at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi between Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu and the Vice President of the Brazilian government, who was represented by the deputy minister of agriculture and Livestock, Mr Cleber Oleviera.

Governor Idris told the Brazilian minister that the recent growth and successes recorded in the Brazilian economy were a result of their determination to develop agriculture.

He added that Kebbi State will follow suit in transforming the state with both agriculture and livestock production.

Governor Idris also noted that Kebbi State remained the rice capital of Africa, where many delegations from different countries came to study rice farming.

In his remarks, Cleber Oleviera, had informed the governor that they were in Kebbi State as directed by the federal government to partner with the state on how best to bring more investment into Nigeria and Kebbi State.

He commended the governor for his efforts to develop Kebbi within two years in office.
