Kebbi State Embarks on 3 Million-Ton Per Annum Cement Industry

The MoU signing ceremony was between the state government, representated by Governor Nasir Idris and the Chairman of MSM Cement Ltd Alhaji Mu’azzam Mai rawani, and was held at the Kebbi Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja.

When completed it is to produce 3-million tons of cement per-annum to significantly boost economic growth and provide jobs to 45,000 people.

Governor Idris once again reaffirms his administration’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for economic development and growth to drive infrastructural development in the state.

Chairman of the local investor, Alhaji Mai rawani, described the agreement as a milestone for Nigeria’s cement industry and Kebbi’s economic development.

The company, he promised, would deploy modern technology to produce the annual tonnage, leveraging on the state’s rich limestone deposits and business-friendly environment.

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, who was a guest at the signing ceremony highlighted the factory’s potential to boost exports, particularly through the African Continental Free Trade Agreement.

In his remarks, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, who was the immediate govenor of the state, Senator Abubakar Atiku-Bagudu, praised his successor for attracting investors to the state through fostering business-friendly environment for both local and foreign investors.
