Katsina Govt Deploys French Renewable Energy Tech for Improved Electricity, Agric Purposes
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Katsina State Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed in a statement said the Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, led a delegation on a visit to Mini Hydroelectric Power Station in Heudreville-Sur -Eure, France.
During the visit a strategic partnership was consummated between the Katsina and French governments as well as Oceans Energy to implement similar mini hydro technology at the Danja Dam.
The mini hydro station is found to have capacity to power over 400 homes, enhance irrigation and agricultural production as well as cold storage solutions to reduce post-harvest losses faced by local farmers.
The excess energy generated from the plant could also be distributed to surrounding communities, extending the benefits of renewable energy to more benefiting communities.
The Governor has also announced similar plans to replicate the projects at the Ajiwa and Zobe Dams as part of the administration’s commitment to sustainable development across the state.
Meanwhile, Governor Radda has reaffirmed his administration’s strong commitment to completing the Lambar Rimi Wind Farm, a project he said that has a critical role in providing Katsina State with reliable, sustainable, and eco-friendly electricity.
The Governor in company of the specia aldviser on Power and Energy, Dr. Hafiz Ibrahim Ahmed, recently paid a working visit to Vergnet Energy, the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) responsible for the 10MW Lambar Rimi Wind Farm.
During the visit discussions were on the project’s current progress and the plans for its next phases aimed at attaining cost-effective energy support for the state’s long-term energy security, while contributing to its broader economic and environmental objectives.
