UNICEF, Nigerian Varsity Engage Students on Environmental Preservation

Unibadan Nigeria, UNICEF Partner on Environmental Conservation

Five hundred students of the university were joined by 500 others selected from various secondary schools in a two day interactive session anchored by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)

In collaboration with the University of Ibadan, the partnership was aimed at educating students on environmental conservation and the need to pursue courses related to the preservation of the environment.

Tagged: “UNICEF-University of Ibadan Green Rising Success” had a session in tree planting activities to help students to understand how important environment is to life as trees give out oxygen and take in carbon dioxide.

The Dean Faculty of Renewable Natural Resources, University of Ibadan, Prof. Adejoke Akinyele, said UNICEF is partnering with the University of Ibadan to create awareness and to educate both university’s and secondary school students about the environment.

Akinyele added that the programme was also to encourage the students to choose a career in the conservation of the environment.

Speaking earlier, the Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Saliu Adelabu, urged the students to work towards the conservation of the environment.
