Nigeria’s Kaduna State Moves Closer to Alternative Energy

Kaduna State Monday joined Lagos and others from the Southern Nigeria who have adopted Liquified Natural Gas, LNG and its compressed component, CNG in an effort to move away from dependence on fossil fuels.

The Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, who inaugurated the first Liquefied Compressed Natural Gas (LCNG) station set up by Greenville Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in Kakau, Kaduna State said renewable energy which LNG and CNG facilitate promise the reinvigoration of Kaduna-based industries.

The industries that would benefit from the presence of the Greenville facility he said would include textiles, machinery, steel, and aluminum, as well as the automotive and oil and gas sectors.

At the event, Governor Sani said that the new facility would not only transform the state but would also facilitate the employment of the teeming youths roaming the streets, thereby boosting the state’s economy.

The Governor also noted that the provision of alternative power sources through the LCNG gas hub was of paramount importance for Micro, Small, and Medium (MSM) sized businesses and industries in the state.

“Our administration”, he reiterated “is committed to making Kaduna a business hub. Our energy needs are enormous. The Greenville Initiative will re-energize the business environment and provide employment opportunities for Kaduna residents. Energy is a major driver of business. With energy, small businesses will spring to life again.

He therefore requested Greenville LNG to kindly consider providing more gas hubs in Kaduna as the Kaduna State Government eagerly anticipates the positive impact that the groundbreaking initiative will bring to our State and the nation as a whole.
