200 Farmers Get Startup Grants In Kaduna

Marshall Katung representing Southern Kaduna Senatorial District has empowered 200 farmers through Capacity Building and provision of startup grants to promote entrepreneurship.

During the programme in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, represented by Prof Ibrahim Sodangi, the Senator said the gesture was part of efforts to tackle insecurity and ensure food sufficiency.

He added that equipping farmers with new trends in agricultural production would boost their capacity, keeping them relevant in both local and international markets.

He said the pilot programme in Southern Kaduna focused majorly on victims of insecurity, who have lost their loved ones and sources of livelihood.

“The selection was carefully done to include people that are affected regardless of gender, ethnicity and religion within the different political wards of Southern Kaduna,” he explained.

God’spower Esen, facilitator of the programme, said it aimed at equipping farmers with requisite knowledge to help them grow and to in turn lift others out of poverty.

The empowerment programme, which was in partnership with the Federal College of Agriculture, Ishiagu, Ebonyi State, featured distribution of STD Sprayers, Agricultural insecticide sprayer and the sum of N50,000 each to the 200 beneficiaries to promote their businesses.
