Ginger Disease Outbreak, Commissioner visit to NEPC

In demonstration of the commitment of Kaduna State Government, under His Excellency Sen. Uba Sani, to the welfare and prosperity of our farmers, the Commissioner, Murtala Dabo made a follow-up visit to Nigerian Export Promotion Council.
During the visit Dabo had extensive discussion with the ED/CEO, Dr. Ezra Yakusak on the Ginger disease outbreak.
Nigeria is one of the largest exporter of Ginger in the world and Kaduna State is the largest producer in the country.
The disease outbreak with estimated loss at N8 billion will not only affect farmers income but will negatively impact Nigeria’s non-oil export proceeds too.
It would be recalled that since the outbreak of the disease the State Government through the Ministry of Agriculture has not only intervened by distributing agrochemicals to smallholder farmers but also contacted the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security for possible intervention from the Federal Government.
