Kebbi Gov’t, Marine Police Synergise On Water Transportation
The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir idiris has announced his administration’s intention to collaborate with the marine police to facilitate effective water transportation system.In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, the governor disclosed this while condoling with the Emir of Yauri, Dr Muhammad Zayyanu Abdullahi, the entire people of the state and the Emirate in particular, over the boat mishap which claimed nine lives.Gov. Idris directed that henceforth, any boat passenger who refuses to wear live jacket shall not be allowed to enter any boat for his/her and other persons’ safety.The governor while identifying with the grief of the bereaved families donated to them Eight Million Naira, and Five Million to the Yauri Emirate Council as well for its effective and prompt mobilization of help at the scene of the unfortunate incident.He commended the three Local Government Council Chairmen under Yauri Emirate for supporting the present administration in the state.Responding, the Emir, Dr Muhammad Zayyanu Abdullahi, appreciated the governor for the visit, saying that the boat was carrying 17 passingers not as reported by the social media, adding that the body of eight people were recovered and the rescue team were doing their best to recover the remaining corpses. He said the Marine Authority had made several enlightenment on the dangers of water transportation especially during heavy downpours. He then commended Gov. idiris for the improved security staution in Yauri Emirate and across the state.
